I love to collect what I call a “magic book,” otherwise known as “catalog.” Acquiring a good shopping catalog is an important aspect of being a good shopper. If you can’t afford to buy something you want, at least the catalog can help you to input some ideas n your mind to fantasize about until you're ready to buy. You can use a catalog to add your repertoire of creative ideas. For example, with a home decoration catalog, you can put together ideas in your mind of how to decorate your house, or clothes catalog. You can look the model’s style and get inspiration for your own dress styles. You might try piecing together two or more ideas from catalogs to form your very own home or apparel styles!

There are so many benefits from using the free information available in catalogs. You can assess your ability and timing to buy products so you won't waste time roaming around stores and malls (not that it's not fun to window shop). Some women just go to the shopping center round and round gazing at everything and don’t know what to buy. They look at everything from all corners and end up being confused because everything looks so seducing. You want to buy everything!

By using the right catalog you can just pick one thing that you really like and go visit that particular store to evaluate the product in person. I have had this experience many times. I liked to go shopping for many hours just to see all the neat stuff, but in actuality, I had no shopping method. Often I bought something because it looked so appealing hanging on the store rack. I call that "hungry eyes." When I arrived at home, I seemed to realize that there was always something more important and more stylish than what I had just purchased. Or, later I realized I didn't really like it and gave it away to someone else. Hey come on! Money is not easy to find. We must be wise in spending our money, especially in a today's world. This is especially true nowadays because so many of us have a magic card to insert into the machine and get anything. That sounds like a credit card company slogan “make all your dreams come true by using this small magic card.” Wait a minute! Don’t be deceived so easily. Imagine yourself sitting at your desk trying to figure out how you're going to pay for that item at the end of the month. So many people end up in debt for abusing the magic card. Hint: creditors don't believe in magic. They want the cold, hard cash.

Catalogs can actually help you reduce that debt problem. By looking, considering and checking, you can go directly to the item you want in your favorite mall or store. Save yourself some time and temptation to buy things you don't want or need.
