Who doesn’t like polkadot designs? I can’t get enough of polkadots. Long story short, my husband and I always tease each other about being a slow biker. We always have an excuse as to why when we’re slow. Here are my top four best excuses we always come up with:

the weather is too hot

I’m hungry

I have low blood sugar

We should pump our tires

Speaking of being slow, the other day we went biking and I tried to pedal my bike but it seemed so difficult. I kept trying but my bike seemed like it was running in place. For a while I had this doubt in my head and thought maybe I was indeed a slow biker. After about 10 minutes of trying to pedal really hard, I finally figured out my back tire was flat. No wonder my bike didn’t move. That’s a totally embarrassing “three stooges” moment for me.

I wore :
Old Navy Skirt (thrifted), BDG for Urban Outfitter Polkadot Tank (thrifted), Steinmart Cardigans, Christian Siriano for Payless Shoes

Speaking of the three stooges (have you seen the new movie?), every time I wear polkadot clothing I always think… clown. I don’t know, why my mind always thinks clown whenever we talk about polkadots. I guess because I always see a clown who always wears baggy clothes with a polkadot design in it.

I tried to Google the history of polkadots and clown is no where to be found in that entire history.
A little bit of information: the polka dot design first became common in clothing in the late nineteenth century in the United Kingdom. The “polka” itself is a Central European dance and a genre of dance music.

Please don’t ask me what the connection between polka dance and polkadots are. I guess, when you sing or dance you use this sound da… da… da… (sounds like dot).

This particular photo reminds me of this case of Chinese Government Photoshop Disaster (hahahahah) – Even though I didn’t do anything to my photo. I didn’t doctor/Photoshop my pic (except to crop it and adjust the color balance) like those photos of Chinese Government guys.

Ps: if you see I have a lot of black spots on my legs, that’s because I fall down on my bike regularly :).

I found this flowery top on my thrifty shopping adventure last month. I just love the motif but it’s one size bigger than my size. I decided to get it and planned to reconstruct it as best I could. I honestly don’t have very good sewing skills, the only thing I have is bravery and a passion for experimentation.
My secret is putting the top/shirt or skirt that fits me perfectly on top of the shirt/shirt or skirt I want to construct. Then draw a line or pin it along the line and sew it. The result? It’s not bad for an amateur seamstress like me.

I wore:
Jones New York Top (thrifted), Isaac Mizrahi Skirt (thrifted), Moda for DSW shoes

These photos were taken at newly built apartment complex we found accidentally when we returned from our journey looking for my husband’s ergonomic chair and pillows at Relax The Back. We thought this area would be a nice background for taking pictures. Nobody was there except a leasing trailer and one car parked in front of it. While we snapped some photos, a few cars came in and parked in front of the leasing trailer.

Right when we finished taking our pictures and were walking toward our car, 2 girls came out from one of the cars. One girl held a camera and the other wore a nice dress complete with with make up. I told my husband that judging by their style and look, I had a strong feeling they are a fashion bloggers too.” I actually insisted they were a fashion bloggers. Apparently they were waiting for us to finish. We exchanged smiles at each other but it’s too bad, I didn’t ask their web address. It’s a small world! I’m glad we didn’t fight over that prize photography spot :)

Have you had an experience meeting another blogger taking pictures in the same spots as yours?

I used to love to make fun of the styles from the 1960′s and 1970′s. You know the style with wide bell bottomed pants, big shrit collars, long hair for guys and girls, etc., the hippie look. I don’t mind if women wear wide bell bottoms but for guys? (pleaaase! I hope the style never comes back for men). I just can’t imagine seeing guys wearing Elvis Presley’s bell bottom pants, long hair with huge glasses everywhere on the street (please take a few moments, be silent and imagine it) .

Vice versa, the other day my husband and I went to our local GAP store and I saw men’s summer styles full of bright color tops and jeans. Skinny jeans and preppy looks. All style for skinny guys. My husband said

“No way I will wear skinny jeans”

(hehe it’s hard for me to imagine my husband wearing skinny jeans. It can be a nightmare for me)

Isn’t that funny how style and fashion repeats itself. Like other things in life, history, government, everything in this world seems to repeating itself.

The 2012 style is about color and I want to be part of it. I don’t want to miss the train. But like most women/bloggers out there who can wear skinny jeans, not so much with me. I just can’t find myself look right in skinny jeans. But I never give up hope in clothing department. With my strong desire to wear colored jeans, I opted instead for wide leg ones.

Now I feel like I’ve gone through a time tunnel, back to the sixty’s revolutionary days. I am part of the hippie movement . Arghh!! I forgot to wear a headscarf and “bug-eyed” glasses.

I think I’m loving this style. You know, sometimes inside me, I always want to have freedom & feel rebellious (in a nice way of course). Sometimes I want to dress like a hippie, sometimes gypsy. Whichever is more comfortable.

Listening to this song makes me cry. Cry for joy, to know how lucky I am and how valuable I am in My Father’s eyes.

Hebrews 13:5-6
I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Romans 8:35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

2 Corinthians 12:9
“My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

2 Corinthians 12:10
Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

Never Once
by Matt Redman

I remember when I was young I liked to write a letter to God. I would put it in the envelope and seal it and put in the box. I think I was an introverted person. I didn’t trust people that much in terms of sharing what I felt. It was hard for me to find a best friend, a person I could share my deepest feeling. I have parents, sisters and a brother who love me dearly but sometimes there’s a certain thing you wouldn’t want to share with them. The only friend I had back then was God.

Every night, before bed, I wrote God a note. I shared with him everything I felt, my happiness, sadness, loneliness, emptiness, hurt of being rejected, my anger, my hopes and dreams. Sometimes I just wrote a note to let Him know how much He meant to me.

Every time I wrote a letter to God, I found peace inside me. He’s the only faithful person I could trust. He never judged me nor hurt me. He always listened and looked at me with love. Many times I made mistakes and I would come to Him at night, cried and asked forgiveness.

I couldn’t count how many times I have disappointed Him but there’s not one day that He left me. He always puts the pieces back together and tells me

“I forgive you Suzana and I love you so much, Let’s try again okay.”

Imagine this, when you were young (the age of 4-7), you learned how to ride bicycle. You fell down and you got up. You fell down again, got hurt, and you got up again. You never stopped. Your dad looked and watched over you from far away and shouted with love.

“Try again son, try again! You will master it one day.”

When you were bleeding he ran toward you and put a bandage on your wound and carried you home. He was always there to comfort you and not once did he say to you “Stupid boy! Go learn yourself! I’m tired of teaching you! You just don’t get it!”

If our worldly father has that much love toward their children, can you imagine how great the love of our “Heavenly Father” is for us. He knows us better because He who created us. We are His children who need comfort and love from time to time.

I haven’t written a letter to God since I got married almost 8 years ago, so today I want to send Him a lil note:

Father,

It’s been a long time since my last letter to you.
I know I didn’t write you a lot since my last letter because you are here with me,
and we are talking a lot more in the spirit now.

Thank you so much for sending me a best friend, my husband. I share things I couldn’t share in the past with him now. You’ll be happy to hear this, he does his part right. He’s such a good listener and patient with the fact that I am a lil’ crazy person who talks too much. You’ve sent the right one for me, Lord :)

Father, I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for all you’ve done for me. Look how far we’ve come!
Thank you for all the blessings and grace that you have been pouring on me since I was born.

Thank you for holding me, comforting and carrying me in your arms, when I was in sorrow, when I was in pain, when I was sad, when I was hurt, where life seemed so difficult and the journey so rough you always remained there for me, faithfully.

You watch over me when I wake up, when I walk, when I fall, when I almost give up. You never give up hope in me. You always let me know that you are near.

Thank you for my husband, parents, family and friends. Thank you for protecting them, and be with them in any circumstances in their life. I love them so much and I know you love them too the way you love me.

It’s too much for me to say. I know that I can’t repay everything back. You’ve been giving me a lot more than I can ask, imagine and pray. I love you so much too and I can’t be separated from you because apart from you I’m just NOTHING.

Thank you for being so faithful to me and for keeping up with me.
I know I hurt you so many times and you never take your love one bit away from me.

Thank you Father for being my Father. I can’t wait to meet you face to face and get a real hug from you.
Promise to hug Emory too Father, he’ll be jealous if you don’t ;)

Love,
Your daughter
Suzana-

This summer tube dress makes me feel like I’m working in the medical industry. The more I see it, the more I think this outfit looks like an outfit a doctor might wear. Maybe the white blazer gives the doctor-like impression. I just need a stethescope to complete my disguise. Wish I could find a stethescope at Goodwill (hehe).

The dress itself is actually a tube beach dress. I bought it a few years ago but it’s too long for me. After I tortured the dress by washing it and putting it in the dryer 5 times, I finally got the length I wanted. Poor Dress! She’s tough like the owner :)

I just love the bold color of this dress and thought I could modify it a little bit for a cool (almost hot actually) spring weather look. So I can show off my lil legs and my lil sandals. When the temperature drops at night, the dress can easily pulled down to cover my legs.

I just wrap a belt around my hip and pull the dress to the top to shape the dress like a peplum dress. I hope she forgive me for what I have done to her in the past.
